VWP and flammable materials.

VWP, large fireworks and ignitors should not be in the same vicinity.

VWP on the loose.

They're darned lucky nobody got hurt any worse than they did.

Sheesh.

We had a stray go flying though the golf course. It was cool (in an aburd way) to see - but not something I ever wanted to see. Thankfully, it didn't hit anything or anyone. You have to wonder, though, how these companies are able to get firing permits. What is the criteria for permitting? I thought it was much more stringent than it apparently is. - eileen

Saw this on the news here, glad that no one was too badly hurt. We had stuff going off all over the place here. We got some fountains, one cool tiki thing that made all sorts of noise and such and other little things for the kids to make messes with. I didn't know that smoke bombs would stain the grass, we have blue and green splotches all over the yard LOL. We weren't sure what we could get away with since fireworks are illegal in Independence (but legal in the rest of Jackson county LOL). Terry did speak to a cop that came by and he said he has no issue with them as long as no one gets the huge explosive ones. All in all, it was a good weekend for all. We were all hot, dirty, sunburned, tired and had our fun. So how were things at your part of the country?

I don't know what the requirements are. All I think you need to do is pay money and get a permit?
Dumb, isn't it.

Wow. A non-gestapo cop? Wow. I was pooped out so we didn't do much. Was in bed early. Heat getting to me.

The cops where we live are ok. Just don't give them attitude and life is good. We do seem them often, I think some of the neighbors down the street have caused trouble in the past.

They mostly stay out of this neighborhood. One, the gestapo on with no hair, has been cruising through on a regular basis for no reason that anyone knows.

I miss cops like Lon.

About Me

A hobby cook from the Midwest. Experiments, thoughts, new recipes, maybe even a photo or two... You noticed the pouting little girl with the words superimposed over her face? Growing up in the 60s and 70s the refrain of "there are starving children in [insert current poverty-stricken nation] that would love to have such... etc etc etc." I don't know that anyone actually believed all that but the image of a starving foreign child, holding out a bowl in hopes of being gifted with boiled tongue or green tomato pie, was pretty powerful. I do recall the kind of trouble kids would inevitably be in if they dared to say what most of us thought: "Well, then, send this stuff right on over to those poor, starving [insert country] kids." I don't usually post other people's photos, just my own. If you want to borrow or use one of my photos, I would appreciate your asking first. I usually don't mind but do hate having my work attributed to someone else. By the way, I found the photo of that pouting girl on the web with no attribution. If it's yours? We'll deal, ok? Thanks.
