This is what day?

OK, am back. Spoke too soon about the 'flu, though. Himself is down and out since Sunday night. I'm glad, now, that Doc snuck that flu shot in because I'm not near as bad off as the Man. A bit achy and shaky but not enough to be in bed. It did take me an hour to put together the World's Easiest Chicken recipe Monday night, though. That's almost embarrassing.

Wedding plans are proceeding. I think. Fiancee is stressing because she doesn't know for sure how many people are planning on being there. Sure would be nice if some of you (again, you know who you are) would return those little "yes/no" cards to her. That way she will can relax and everyone will be just hunkydory.

It did occur to me at 3 a.m. this morning that, not only do I still need to make our hotel reservations, get suits for the groomsmen, a jacket, slacks, shirt and tie for Himself, an outfit for me, I also need to make "reservations" at a kennel to board the WaggyWaggy.* Duh. I think my ability to keep everything organized is going the way of the Titanic.... down fast. (update: now have "reservations" for Waggy at a boarding kennel. 4 walks a day, heated indoor runs, her own blankies, her own food. Had to get her a bordetella immunization and will get the booster the 8th of March. Now if I can just get the rest of this organized. *sigh*)

SS still doesn't know when individual speech contest is. Both he and YMS are involved and their coach has threatened death, a slow and painful death, to anyone who doesn't show up for the contest. The wedders-to-be are OK with SS not attending but YMS is in the wedding party. With everything going full-speed ahead it would be most helpful if the coach figured out the where/when/what/who about this whole thing. About a month to go....

We were supposed to get a snowstorm last night and today but it went south of us. I don't know whether that is a good thing or not but at least we aren't having a blizzard. I don't mind blizzards but I do need to go to town a little later and would prefer to see the road. Then there is the matter of Idiot Drivers.... snow meteors.... snowplows.... anyone who lives up here knows all about this stuff. *sigh*

Have decided I will wait until tomorrow to go to the market. Still going to town but not wanting to drive another 10 miles for breakfast cereal. Have what we need for dinner and feeling unmotivated. Don't even know what I will have besides ribs.

Just checked account balances at the bank. WTF did SS need with a cash withdrawal of 60 bucks? What is going on in that kid's head? Anything? Nothing? Man, this has been some adjustment for all of us. For him, because nobody ever required him to account for anything, for us because we have always insisted on limits and accountability. Two different worlds crashing head on. Might explain why I've had a headache for 6 months now.

*Is it called reservations when you make reservations for a beagle at a boarding kennel? I wonder if there is someplace that has a bonus points program for dogs. Stay 3 nights, get 2 free? Or a nice bone?

Stop the Spying!

About Me

A hobby cook from the Midwest. Experiments, thoughts, new recipes, maybe even a photo or two... You noticed the pouting little girl with the words superimposed over her face? Growing up in the 60s and 70s the refrain of "there are starving children in [insert current poverty-stricken nation] that would love to have such... etc etc etc." I don't know that anyone actually believed all that but the image of a starving foreign child, holding out a bowl in hopes of being gifted with boiled tongue or green tomato pie, was pretty powerful. I do recall the kind of trouble kids would inevitably be in if they dared to say what most of us thought: "Well, then, send this stuff right on over to those poor, starving [insert country] kids." I don't usually post other people's photos, just my own. If you want to borrow or use one of my photos, I would appreciate your asking first. I usually don't mind but do hate having my work attributed to someone else. By the way, I found the photo of that pouting girl on the web with no attribution. If it's yours? We'll deal, ok? Thanks.
